Rotorua Adaptive Tri – Entry Terms and Conditions
By entering the Rotorua Adaptive Tri (“the Event”), run by Rotorua Triathlon Club (“the Organisers”), you agree to the following:
1. Taking part
The Rotorua Adaptive Tri is designed to be inclusive and welcoming for participants of all abilities.
You should only take part if you are medically fit and feel ready. Please check with your doctor if you have any concerns.
You accept that triathlon involves risks, including accidents, or injury. The Organisers will do everything possible to keep the event safe, but cannot remove all risks.
2. Safety
All entrants must be accompanied by an adult who will take responsibility for them throughout the duration of the event. This caregiver is expected to ensure safe supervision at all times.
Roads and pathways used for the event may be open to the public, vehicles, or other users. Please listen and follow the instructions of the marshals, volunteers, and officials at all times.
If you have a medical condition or need specific support, please tell us on your entry form or before the event. This helps us prepare the right support for you.
If you require any aids or equipment to support you safely taking part then please tell us on your entry form.
If you bring any aids or equipment with you, you will ensure that it is of sound quality.
The Organisers may stop you from starting or continuing if they believe it is unsafe for you or others.
If you decide to withdraw from the event on the day, you must tell an official or the event team as soon as possible.
3. Medical
You consent to receiving medical care if required before, during, or after the event by the event appointed First Aid providers.
You agree that medical information provided by you on the entry form, may be shared (if required) with the first aid providers to ensure proper care.
You are responsible for any medical costs / arrangements that may arise from your participation once you have left the event and/or on referral from the first aid providers.
4.Cancellations or changes
The Organisers may change, delay, or cancel the event due to weather, safety, or other reasons outside their control.
5. Rules and fairness
The event is designed as an entry/participation level, not a competitive level. The organisers will adapt the requirements at any time for any individual to support the participate to finish or to have a sense of achievement. Not all participants may complete the same distance/courses. There is no performance prizes.
6. Concerns
If you have any concerns with another competitor, volunteer, or the event itself, please raise it with the organisers during or after the event.
Any concerns will be handled fairly and confidentially.
7. Images and results
You agree that photos, video, or audio of you at the event may be used by the organisers for promotion, reporting, or media purposes, without payment.
Your name and image may be publicly available.
8. Eligibility
The event is for tamariki and rangatahi (5–18) with an intellectual or physical disability, who are part of the New Zealand school system.
Those aged between 19 – 21 who are still engaged with the education system are also eligible.
All entries received must have the approval of the school or the parent/guardian.
9. Personal responsibility
You are responsible for your own personal belongings at the event. The organisers are not liable for lost or stolen items.
Caregivers are responsible for ensuring supervision of the entrants throughout the event.
